What’s Voodoo?

What exactly is Voodoo?

Voodoo can be described as traditional religion which has been born in the western side provinces of the Grand mother Continent, Africa. Voodoo became widely recognized with the well known African slave trades that occured many many years ago.

The correct spelling ogou meant for voodoo is actually Vodou. Vodou was born with west Africa and during the importation involving slaves it bought birth to Dominican Vodou, Haitian Vodou and Louisiana Voodoo.

Dominican Vodou when i call it - is basically Haitian Vodou, only, practiced within the Dominican Republic. That difference is not awesome. We use almost all the same Loas, and most of the same ceremonies, only with a "twist". Obviously, one huge difference in practice is a language. Although, your Loas when "mounted on a horse's head", regardless if the indy speaks Kréyol or even not, the Loa in the "head" might speak certain phrases in Haitian Kréyol. Another language spoken by some Loas (especially Anaisa Pyé), is French. Nonetheless once again, the same in spite of the horse's first vodou Haitian words, the Loa within head will connect it.

Contrary to popular belief, like Haitian Voodun, experts of Dominican Vodun believe in one key God, the Owner, Papa Bon Dyé (the good God) as although physically absent from the Earth, he is still superior to us all. Within Haiti He at the same time goes by Gran Fulfilled (the Great Master).

Very rarely definitely will one go to a get together of the spirits and not hear the Loas and all those present mention this identity. As, when haiti vodou such Loas enter a lot of say: Bonswa a good la societé! Gracia a la Mesericordia de Papa Bon Dyé y Las 21 Divisiones!. Signifying "Hello (good evening) to all (the society)! Thanks to the Merci of The Good Jesus and the 21 Limbs! Bonswa a chicago societé is the normal greeting given to all by these Loas when they arive. They say: "Bonswa a are generally societé! ", many respond: "Bonswa! ". Once these Loas arrive, they ask for there things (fula, drinks, cigars, and what ever else some may want to wear so they can use), these things are made to the Loas by La Place, here is the person responsible for providing them with all of the above.
